Today was a great day of learning. We have one more day of watching teen activist commercials and then we will vote on which was the most persuasive. The next area of writing we will focus on is memoir writing. In addition to the written piece of memoir writing, we will also have our arts integration piece with the help of Heather Dean. See below for more information.
Arts Integration is an approach to teaching in which students construct and demonstrate understanding through an art form. Students engage in a creative process which connects an art form and another subject area and meets evolving objectives in both. Heather Dean will work with our students in our memoir unit to bring out our themes in a visual way.
She will work with us during our Duffield/Kruger combined Reading 4th hour class on May 15, 16,17, 20, 21, and 22 (We head to the Kennedy Ropes Course on May 23). Our showcase will be on Friday, May 24th from 7:55 am- 8:50 am.
If possible, we are in need of a few items:
* crayons- they do not need to be new
* medium-sized binder clips
* watercolor paints (not anything fancy)
* different size paintbrushes
* paper towels
Mr K Math: Finish graph sheet and TEST tomorrow

Students are in the midst of filming their Teen/Youth activist videos. If students are telling you that they NEED their phones to film, they do not. They are able to use them in ELA the next couple of days though. We have access to some i-Pads and our Chromebooks. We completed our Ancient China work and have started to do some comparing and contrasting for different aspects of Ancient Greece and Rome.
Note from Kindness Club:
Hello Hamilton Staff!
Kindness Club is running a book drive from April 22nd-May 3rd and we are collecting books for the Madison Reading Project. The goal of the project is to collect and distribute a variety of books to under served areas of Madison for ages birth-teen. Books will be collected in homerooms. The prize for the most books collected per homeroom is ice cream sandwiches!
Boxes will be provided by Kindness Club! If the boxes get too full or too heavy, you can drop off the books at the MSCR office or email me and I can pick them up! On the last day of the drive I will collect all boxes and tally up the books collected. I will be distributing boxes this Friday!

The day of silence is Friday, April 12th. It is a day in which students can choose to participate by being silent throughout the day to show their support for those that may be silenced every day. Students MAY wear stickers that read: Today I vow to take a form of silence in honor of the LGBTQ+ community OR Today I am not taking a vow of silence but I support the LGBTQ+ community. We will discuss more in advisory tomorrow, but feel free to discuss at home tonight as well.
